This position is based in San Francisco, CA.  Reports to Vice President of Corporate & Business Development.

You are strategic, articulate, and entrepreneurial.  You will be responsible for ideating, validating and executing on new business models and revenue streams through value capture of existing assets and creation of new assets.  You will champion and develop strategies and execution plans to drive user growth and engagement through partnerships, distribution and new product experiences. You will close deals that are strategic to Mozilla’s sustainability and growth targets.  You have an astute understanding of market dynamics and trends, a healthy dose of curiosity, and thrive on new challenges.  You will play a role in driving our acquisition and investment activities, ensuring consistent and rigorous framework and analysis. You will collaborate closely with the product and engineering teams in Firefox and Emerging Technologies, and external partners to deliver against our growth and revenue goals. You are passionate about innovation and Mozilla’s mission.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong strategy and deal making background, combined with a broad knowledge of product and market development processes, to enable you to work effectively with our technical teams and partners to drive new revenue streams and close strategic deals.  Extensive experience in identifying, negotiating, and executing large scale and complex strategies and partnerships is required.  You should have a demonstrated ability to think critically about business models and operational requirements, with the ability to build and present compelling business cases and partner value propositions and garner consensus and support cross-organizationally. You have a personal passion for (and early adopter of) emerging consumer technologies. We are looking for a hands-on, strategic, won’t take no for an answer and detailed-oriented individual.  A keen sense of urgency, drive and scrappiness is essential.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive new revenue and product related projects from ideation, business case, validation and feasibility testing to commercial launch
  • Qualify, structure, negotiate and execute on distribution, product, technology and revenue partnerships
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow market share through distribution and product differentiation, in close collaboration with our product, engineering and marketing teams
  • Apply rigorous and consistent framework for evaluating the economic and strategic costs and benefits of new business and partnership opportunities
  • Identify targets and perform strategic and quantitative analysis including preliminary due diligence and valuation in support of acquisition and investment activities
  • Track and report on emerging trends, new business models and investment opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with both internal stakeholders (products, engineering, privacy, marketing) and Mozilla community to get sufficient buy-in and support
  • Develop strong relationships with key strategic partners and venture community
  • Manage 2-3 senior business development managers

Your professional profile:

  • Creative, out-of-box thinker, able to get around obstacles with finesse
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and negotiate strategic deals
  • Extensive experience crafting and executing bespoke, first of its kind partnerships
  • Track record of identifying or originating new concept/business model and commercialization of those said model
  • Prior M&A experience, including acquisitions, joint ventures and investments
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and prioritization skills
  • Deep understanding of the mobile and Internet ecosystems
  • Personal passion for (and early adopter of) emerging consumer technologies
  • Self-starter and rapid learner who thrives in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work through ambiguous and unbounded problems
  • Enterprise and SaaS experience a plus
  • Previous experience in a product marketing or product management role a plus
  • Passion for Mozilla and its mission/values

Your qualifications:

  • 17+ years of experience in business and corporate development in a consumer Internet or mobile company
  • Experience in sourcing and executing on acquisitions in the technology sectors
  • Track record of structuring and implementing bespoke, first of its kind partnership deals
  • Strong network of executive level contacts at Internet and mobile industries
  • Consistently meets and exceeds quantified goals
  • Experience with modeling and data analysis
  • Investment banking and venture capital background a plus
  • Experience sourcing and closing strategic deals in emerging markets a plus
  • BA/BS degree
