The target locations for this position are our Mountain View or San Francisco offices. In Emerging Technologies, we’re seeking a leader in our ongoing efforts to advance Mozilla’s mission during an era of considerable change that is poised to disrupt how we use computing in our day to day lives. As part of the Emerging Technologies leadership team, you will oversee a team of product managers passionate about developing products that are both sustainable and provide real value to users on emerging technological platforms. This includes working with engineers to define high level priorities, roadmaps, and release criteria for architecture and feature work. You will also be primarily responsible for ensuring that the value of all Emerging Technology work is surfaced, connected to high level objectives, and expressed through product messaging. We are looking for someone with extensive background in producing innovative product with a demonstrated ability to handle the technical risks associated with new platforms. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Understanding, navigating, and communicating technology ecosystems as context for program strategy
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the Emerging Technologies roadmap
  • Advocating for developers and users by working with engineering to develop and deliver features that addresses their use cases
  • Working with focused teams to define, develop, and deliver new capabilities that ship as part of new developer and user targeted product lines
  • Orchestrating joint ventures with partners
  • Coordinating with events and evangelism teams to spread awareness of Mozilla's technology and leadership
  • Collaborating with PR and Marketing to build awareness of new web capabilities and Mozilla’s involvement in their development
  • Evolving the emerging ecosystems towards a more open approach and greater end-user appeal
  • Cultivating awareness of the emerging platform competitive landscape and identifying strategically important priorities
  • Leading a small team of product managers each working to deliver product lines
  • Ten or more years working in a web development and/or product management role directly related to shipping products, part of which includes running a product management team and partnering effectively with large engineering teams
  • Understanding of product management as a discipline including product discovery, product life cycle processes, product development, and delivery
  • An understanding of the web as a platform and the various business models that drive it
  • Understanding of AI and/or 3D/VR/AR production are strong assets
  • Ability to establish successful long-term strategic partnerships
  • Ability to work with engineering leadership to produce a road map that contains both requirements and technical solutions to address them
  • Able to represent Mozilla as a spokesperson at conventions, with the press, and with partners
  • Familiarity with open source project development and delivery is highly desired
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
